Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Grandma's Marathon has announced their selection for the organization's interim executive director as Scott Keenan steps down after 37 years.
The board of directors announced the selection of Jon Carlson as the organization’s interim executive director.
Carlson has been the nonprofit organization’s race director since July 2003 after retiring from Minnesota Power, where he had worked since 1980. He served on the Grandma’s Marathon board from October 2002 until being hired as a full-time employee.
A graduate of the University of Minnesota Duluth and Hermantown High School, Carlson resides in Duluth with his wife and two children.
Carlson officially begins his new role on September 1st.
He will take over for Scott Keenan who is stepping down after 37 years with the organization. Keenan started Grandma’s Marathon with the North Shore Striders Running Club in 1977 and announced in May that the 2013 Grandma’s Marathon would be his last as executive director.
