Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Demolition crews were busy tearing down the Greysolon Plaza's front awning Sunday, after it came crashing down onto the sidewalk along Superior Street Saturday night.
According to the crews on scene, removing the collapsed awning was an issue of safety for the building's residents and passers by, but added the process was going smoothly.
The 300 block of East Superior Street was closed to traffic during the tear–down process.
Saturday night, fire crews responded to reports that the Greysolon front awning had collapsed, narrowly missing some people. No injuries were reported.
Though eyewitnesses say heavy snow may have been a factor, it's still unclear what caused the awning's structure to fail.
