Washington, D.C. (NNCNOW.com) --- U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar wants to get tax refund money into the right hands. She says Minnesotans who did not file a tax return in 2010 have until April 15th to claim money they are owed.
Klobuchar's office emphasizes that nearly 13,000 Minnesotans have over $9 million in unclaimed tax refunds.
"Thousands of Minnesotans are owed millions of dollars in tax refunds that are just waiting to be claimed," Klobuchar said. "With the clock ticking toward the April 15th deadline, I want to encourage Minnesotans who didn't file tax returns in 2010 to see if they are owed money before it's too late."
The median possible refund owed to people who didn't file their 2010 taxes is over $500. There is a three–year window to claim tax refunds.
If you do not, the money becomes the property of the U.S. Treasury. You can access prior year tax forms/instructions by calling toll–free 800–TAX–FORM (800–829–3676).
