Superior, WI, (NNCNOW.com) - Students and community members were preparing resumes and cover letters at the UW Superior "Head of the Lakes Spring Job Fair" today.
More than 70 employers attended the event to recruit for internships, seasonal workers, part–time and full–time employees, along with volunteer positions.
Most of those hiring were from the Twin Ports area.
The fair is a collaborative effort among UWS, UMD and The College of St. Scholastica.
Event spokespeople say participation was up by 54 employers indicating a strong recovery in the region's economy.
"Our economy is healing, improving. We see a lot more job postings coming in. We've invited anyone who is looking to reach the college graduate and looking to reach the community members throughout the Twin Ports," Kathy Pykkonen, an event organizer, said.
"It starts out, you get pretty nervous, you know, you don't know what to expect—this is my first job fair. I wasn't sure what the attitude was going to be like—the atmosphere—but when you're done with your first one, you get pretty comfortable," Ted Mattila, a job fair attendee, said.
Job fair attendee Ted Mattila says because of the event, he will be interviewing with Target later this week.
