Healthiest States: Minnesota ranks 3rd, Wisconsin 20th

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Minnesota is ahead of the curve when it comes to lifestyle and quality of life.

A joint study called America's Health Rankings named Minnesota the 3rd healthiest in the US.

The study cited low prevalence of physical inactivity and diabetes and low rates of cardiovascular disease deaths.

Challenges, however, include binge drinking, health funding and low immunization coverage among children.

Wisconsin earned the 20th spot on the list.

The Badger's states strengths include low percentage of uninsured population and unlike its neighboring state, high immunization among children.

Challenges also include binge drinking and health funding.

The study showed there's plenty of room for improvements. 28 percent of American adults are obese. 20 percent still smoke.
