Hermantown, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Neighbors came together Wednesday night for the Hermantown Community Block Party, while also helping raise money for families in need.

People celebrated with free food, live music, puppets, bouncy-houses, and plenty of prize give-aways at the Hermantown Community Church.

Those who attended the block party say it's a fun way to come together and celebrate community comradery, while also raising funds through donations for church families who cannot afford school supplies.

"We wanted to bless them and give them backpacks, and school supplies and stuff for their kids. We know that a lot of stuff can be expensive, and people are hurting in these economic times and we just wanted to be a blessing," said staff pastor, Mac Dwyer.

Pastors said everything at the event was free to community members, as a way to say "thank you" to neighbors.
