Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The historic Pickwick Restaurant and Pub in Duluth was busy ringing in its 100th birthday this weekend.

According to the pub's website, the Pickwick opened in 1888 as the Old Saloon within Fitger's Brewing Company next door.

But it has been operating in its current location since 1914, hence this weekend's b–day bash, complete with food, spirits, and live music.

Co–owner Dan Holm, who has been involved with the pub for four years, says the team has worked hard to preserve the Pickwick's original charm, and identity.

"You can see when you walk in we have a lot of the old history inside of our building, and we've preserved a lot of that," said a smiling Holm as the crowd danced behind him, "and so, when you're in there I think you get a little bit different dining experience than you do in some of the other establishments."

Holm says the Pickwick is the oldest original establishment of its kind in the area.
