Scanlon, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Authorities are investigating a house fire that displaced three people in Scanlon, MN.

Fire crews were called to a structure fire on Lincoln Avenue around 2AM.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a detached, two car garage was engulfed in flames.

Cloquet Fire Chief Kevin Schroeder says the fire spread into the house, through the exterior windows. Flames burned the basement, kitchen and living room. Officials have deemed the house a total loss.

The estimated total damage is about $225,000, which does not include the three cars that sustained front end heat damage in the fire.

The family's cat also died in the blaze.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
