Hundreds of Racers Assemble at Spirit Mountain

-- Hundred of skiers clipped in and dropped down for an international ski race at Spirit Mountain today.

The Atmore Memorial Mid-American Ski Race kicked off at Spirit Mountain attracting some of the best skiers around the globe.

The internationally sanctioned race hosts Olympic athletes from all over the world, competing against some of the best racers locally.

The Spirit Mountain Racing Team is a vital component of organizing the event and their exited to see some fresh faces in town.

"The girls that are in first and second right now they are originally from Croatia and one of them skied in the Olympics. It's crazy skiing with those kind of people...It's cool"

The race runs through February 5th, shutting down two of the runs at Spirit for the majority of the day.
