Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- The husband of a Superior daycare provider is being investigated for potential sexual abuse of children.

The Douglas County District Attorney's Office confirmed that an investigation is underway.

According to a search warrant, obtained from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office...in January a woman contacted the Bayfield County Human Services Department to say her two daughters had been sexually assaulted while visiting a house in Superior.

The case was given to Superior Police but they turned it over to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office due to a conflict of interest.

The male suspect is reportedly the father of a Superior Police Officer.
District Attorney Dan Blank says this is a tough case because of the amount of investigation needed.

He says they are still gathering information.

"When allegations about kids, sexual contact, figuring out what evidence would be admissible in court, and the potential use of children in a court process, there's a lot of tough decisions; a lot of factors to take into consideration."

D.A. Dan Blank says charges have been referred to his office but no official charging decision has been made yet.

He said he hopes to decide on whether to file charges by the end of the summer.
