Even in the middle of January, Apostle Islands National Park Rangers say the ice conditions are never truly safe, and given the right wind and temps they could change rapidly.
Tourism leaders say the ice caves helped boost the region’s economy by $10 to $12 million.
If you did not get a chance to visit the rare site this year, feel free to start praying for another bitter cold winter for next year.
