Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Improvements are coming to the bridge near Chester Bowl in Duluth.

The Duluth city council gave the green light to a grant agreement with MnDOT for $691,000 for the rehabilitation of the bridge on Skyline Parkway, over Chester Creek.

Chester Bowl and the surrounding area was severely damaged during the June 2012 floods, meaning rehab projects like these, are a necessity.

"This is again our flood damage and it's about dollars and grant dollars that are being, federal dollars, that are being put to work to improve that area, and at the same time we are going to be looking at striping that area better and perhaps signage to make the traffic slow down a well," said Duluth city councilor Sharla Gardner.

The city has agreed to pay any amount exceeding the estimate of the grant from MnDOT.
