Inmate Charged after Escaping Duluth Federal Prison Camp

Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com)--- One of two inmates who escaped from the Federal Prison in Duluth last month was charged today with one count of escaping from custody.

67-year-old Gerald James Greenfield escaped from the Federal Prison camp on March 30.

Authorities say he was present for a prisoner count at 4 p.m. that day..but was not present for another count at 10.

Greenfield and 64-year-old Michael Krzy-zaniak were apprehended by U.S. Marshals at a hotel in Burnsville six days after they escaped.

If convicted on the charges, Greenfield faces a maximum of five years in prison to be added to his current sentence.
