Virginia, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Mesabi Range Community and Technical College, in partnership with Vermillion Community College is the recipient of a 5-year U.S. Department of Education TRIO grant of $1.25 million dollars for their Upward Bound Math/Science Program.
The Upward Bound Math/Science program is a pre-college program that provides educational opportunities to students who want to pursue higher education.
The program serves a total of 50 9th-12th grade students every year from Virginia Secondary, Mt. Iron-Buhl, Northeast Range, Cherry Secondary, Eveleth-Gilbert and Chisholm.
To qualify for the program, students must be first generation college students in their families and meet federally set income criteria.
