Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Jean Duluth Road has reopened after being closed for a month while finishing details were done to the bridge that was washed out in last June's flooding.
The bridge that spans the Lester River was damaged in the flood and it's re-opening means that only one major road in St Louis County, Haines Road, remains closed due to flood damage.
The new bridge includes 12-foot wide lanes, eight-foot shoulders, concrete beams, a concrete deck and metal railings.
The total cost to fix the bridge was $1 million, 80 percent which was covered by Federal Highway administration Emergency Relief Funds.
In addition to Jean Duluth reopening, the Highway 7 bridge near the Cloquet River reopened as well on Wednesday.
The bridge was rebuilt after being deemed structurally deficient. It reopened in November, but was closed for the last month while work was completed.
