Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The owner of the former Duluth head shop "Last Place on Earth" has filed an appeal in his synthetic drug case, and hired a new attorney.
Mark Nyvold will represent Jim Carlson in his request to have the case heard in the U.S. Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Carlson was found guilty of more than 50 courts associated with the sale of synthetic drugs in his Duluth shop, and was sentenced to more than 17 years in prison on Aug. 14, 2014.
The courts also ordered the seizure of nearly $7 million dollars they say was acquired through his illegal synthetic drug transactions.
Carlson's ex–girlfriend, Lava Haugen, has also filed an appeal regarding her federal prison sentence of five years.
