HIBBING, MN (Northland's NewsCenter)--- U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar is on the Iron Range this week highlighting the importance of manufacturing to the economy.
The visit is part of her made in America Economic Tour.
Senator Klobuchar discussed ways to strengthen the industries in northern Minnesota with manufacturing, education and engineering leaders at the Hibbing Community College.
Officials highlighted the importance of high school and continuing education as well as training and networking.
They also discussed ways northern businesses can partner with other state and national agencies to meet competitive demands world wide.
"There are positive signs for the Iron Range and we have to do everything to keep it going positive and keep those jobs expanding," Senator Klobuchar said. "So thank you for the determination you've had in some tough times to stick in there. I think that there is positive news on the horizon."
Senator Klobuchar finished the day's tour at Minnesota Twist Drill, a high-speed steel drill bit manufacturer in Chisholm.
