Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The man accused of setting a fire at the Kozy Bar and Apartments in April of 2012 was sentenced Monday.

55-year-old Mark Starkovich, a former Kozy employee, was sentenced to four months in prison on a gross misdemeanor negligent fire charge.

The judge stayed his sentence as long Starkovich meets his probation conditions. As part of his probation, he is to have a chemical use assessment, no use of alcohol or mood altering substances, take his medication as prescribed, sign releases of information, no same or similar crimes, remain law abiding and submit a DNA sample.

Surveillance video from the night of the fire showed Starkovich breaking into the laundry room of the Kozy.

In the criminal complaint, Starkovich admitted to trespassing inside of the Kozy and smoking marijuana while inside, but he told police he did not intentionally start the fire.
