Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The CEO of the Lake Superior Zoological Society said Wednesday he's stepping down after 20 years with the zoo.

Sam Maida made the announcement Wednesday saying he wants to make way for new leadership.

Maida said he's seen challenges, successes and changes during his time.

He added everyone leaves at some time, and this is his time.

The Zoo has started searching for a replacement.

No word on when Maida is set to step down.
