Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) – The sign on the Last Place on Earth storefront was removed Thursday morning.
It took city crews less than an hour to remove the signage from the front of the building.
The building still belongs to the family of Jim Carlson, the owner of the controversial head shop, who was found guilty in December 2013 of over 50 counts of synthetic drug sales.
The building is now under the control of the U.S. Marshal Service, which city officials say allowed them to remove the exterior signage due to its blighted appearance.
The signage will be kept inside the Last Place on Earth building until it is claimed by the Carlson family.
