May 14, 2013 Updated May 14, 2013 at 4:53 PM CDT

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Lavaque Road in Hermantown will reopen on to traffic on May 15.

The road, just north of the Morris Thomas intersection in Hermantown, closed on Monday for utility work.

The utility work was completed ahead of schedule with the surface restored to gravel.

On Thursday, May 23, the north leg of the intersection will be closed to northbound and southbound traffic to place the final pavement surface on the utility cut. A detour will be put in place, routing traffic to Ugstad Road, north to Hermantown Road and east back to Lavaque.

The detour will be in place through May 24.
