St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A Minnesota lawmaker says state taxpayers were duped by electronic pull tab revenue estimates and is now demanding an investigation.
In a letter to the Chairman of the Finance Committee, Senator Sean Nienow (R-Cambridge) asks for a hearing to find out why revenue projections were dramatically higher than what the state is actually seeing.
According to the most recent revenue models income is 95 percent lower than projected.
Sen. Nienow calls the gap "highly problematic" and says it puts tax payers at grave risk.
The Finance Committee Chairman, Sen. Dick Cohen (DFL-St. Paul), told Minnesota Public Radio he is also concerned about the projections, but said a hearing at this point would be premature.
The E-pulltabs are the primary funding source for the state's share of construction on the new Viking's stadium.
