DULUTH, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - City of Superior and Douglas County leaders say the regions annual lobbying effort in Madison was successful this year.

Dozens of organizers and leaders went to Madison as for the 27th annual Superior Days effort to inform legislators about issues important to Northwestern Wisconsin.

Superior Mayor Bruce Hagen noted the job growth in the city with Kestrel planning to bring hundreds of jobs, the expansion of Exodus, and the possibility of Magnetation building a facility in the area.

County leaders say that kind of growth may generate some momentum for infrastructure projects in the area such as work on Highway 2.

"A lot of folks are using Highway 2 to get medical care, for education purposes, as we look at biomass that's being generated from our forests, that's traveling on Highway 2 and as we look at the development , the potential development of the Gogebic Mine , there's going to be some additional traffic," said Andy Lisak, a Douglas Co. Administrator.
