Longtime landfill worker nabbed for alleged theft

Cloquet, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The Carlton Co. Sheriff's Office nabbed a Cloquet woman suspected of theft on Thursday.

The Sheriff's Dept. said the 62-year-old woman was arrested on probably cause of felony theft by swindle and theft of public funds from the Carlton County Transfer Station.

The woman has been employed since 1984 as a landfill cashier. She has been placed on unpaid administrative leave.

The arrest comes as the result of a cooperative investigation by the Carlton County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, assisted by the Internal Revenue Service and the Cloquet Police Department.

The woman will be arraigned in Carlton County District Court on Friday.
