Low-income Northlanders will receive 100 turkeys from CHUM

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The Duluth Chamber's Leadership Duluth program is donating 100 turkeys to CHUM.

CHUM provides emergency food, shelter, advocacy and outreach to more than 7,000 hungry, homeless and low-income Northlanders each year.

The chamber’s year-long leadership training program is making the donation so that people in need can have a turkey for the Thanksgiving holiday.

This is the fourth year Leadership Duluth has donated turkeys to CHUM.

"When I first moved to Duluth I thought I wouldn't have the money to get a turkey this year, my fiancé told me I could. With the government donating turkeys I can keep the tradition up," CHUM turkey recipient, Elizabeth Shanks, said.

The 100 turkeys will go to some of CHUM’s clients who visit the organization on a regular basis.

People can pick up turkeys as part of their five day food order next Tuesday at CHUM's west Duluth location, as well as next Wednesday at CHUM's downtown Duluth location.
