Superior, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) - Magnetation Incorporated—a Nashwauk–based iron ore production company—is currently studying select sites in the Midwest for a proposed taconite pellet plant to separate iron ore content from tailings.

In Superior, it's a 150–acre parcel in the Parkland Industrial Park that has caught Magnetation's attention—primarily due to its proximity to railways, highways and nearby port facilities.

There is stiff competition between prospective sites, but Superior Mayor Bruce Hagen is hopeful, saying Superior will fight for the multi–million dollar investment.

"We're very aggressive with regard to our relationship with prospective and potential economic development customers and business customers. We've got a great team who does a great job. We're lean, but we're very efficient," said Hagen.

Douglas County officials could be asked to consider a proposal that would allow Magnetation to purchase the 1—hundred—50 acres in the Parkland Industrial Park by as early as next week.
