Walker, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -- 20-year-old Sheldon James Smith has been charged with Murder in the Second Degree for the fatal stabbing of a 22-year-old Walker man.
The complaint alleges that on or around March 21, Smith stabbed the victim during an encounter between two groups of individuals and fled the scene with his companions.
Smith appeared for an arraignment on March 22 and bail is set at $750,000 or $500,000 with conditions. Smith's next court appearance is scheduled for April 2, 2012.
The Cass County Sheriff's Department, Leech Lake Tribal Police and Walker City Police are involved in the ongoing investigation.
