St. Louis County, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A homeless man is in custody following an alleged home invasion Thursday.

According to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, a 37–year–old man broke into a home on the 6900 block of Morris Thomas Road shortly before 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

The homeowner said that the man burst into his home, grabbed him and demanded guns and ammunition. Authorities say a struggle ensued in which the victim was struck on the head twice with a gun, causing him lacerations to the head.

The suspect then fled with the firearm. He was taken into custody a few hours later when authorities responded to a home in Mahtowa, in which a man was attacking the homeowner.

The suspect is currently being held in Carlton County Jail. He faces charges of first degree burglary and second degree assault.
