Duluth, Minn (NNCNOW.com) -- Mayors Don Ness and Bruce Hagen signed a proclamation on Thursday declaring it "Young Leaders Day."

Officials say the proclamation recognizes the importance of young adults and their contributions to the health and vitality of the Twin Ports community.

The Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation and Young Leaders Fund held a networking and fundraising event at Bent Paddle.

The funds are awarded to organizations that are attracting and retaining young professionals in the Twin Ports.

"Tonight we want to especially thank the ALLETE Chairmen's Circle who have donated up to $135,000 of matching funds so tonight we hope to put a dent in that matching fund," said Mia Thibodeau, Co-Chair of the Young Leaders Fund.

Thursday is also Give to the Max day. Any on–line contributions to the fund will also be matched by the Knight foundation.
