Duluth, Minn. (NNCNOW.com) -- Men as Peacemakers celebrated 16 years of community peacemaking tonight.

The celebration at the Greysolon ballroom is a fundraiser for the non–profit which organizes and supports programs that promote gender equality in the Twin Ports.

Billy Menor, a senior at Duluth East High School, was the recipient of the Steve Rolland Youth Peacemaker Award.

Menor has spent the last several years educating himself about social justice issues.

"It's really an honor to be receiving the award especially from an organization like Men as Peacemakers which have done so many amazing things in the community. It's an honor," said Menor.

Kathy Nelson, lead Pastor at Peace United Church of Christ, was awarded the Gary Gordon Peacemaker award.

Both awards are named after former Peacemakers.
