Meningitis Cases in Minnesota Rise to Seven

October 17, 2012 Updated Oct 17, 2012 at 10:10 AM CST

(Northland's NewsCenter) -- The Minnesota Department of Health confirms that the fungal meningitis cases in the state have risen to seven.

The MDH determined on Tuesday that 129 clinics in Minnesota received injectable drugs from New England Compounding Center (NECC) that could pose the potential rise of meningitis or other infections to patients.

Staff from the MDH are working to contact those clinics and are instructing them to see their health care provider if they develop symptoms of meningitis.

The fungal meningitis cases are linked to tainted injectable steroids.

The steroid injections were manufactured at the NECC - which has since suspended operations.
