Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) -The Minnesota Archery Season Opener begins September 13th, but as archers prepare for the opener, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources wants to remind hunters of this year's hunting regulations.
One big change to the new regulations include the
"Bucks only Harvest Area", where hunters may harvest one legal buck, no matter the hunter or weapon used.
In a "lottery Area", archers, youth and disabled hunters may harvest antlerless deer without being drawn for an antlerless permit.
The season's approach to the harvest is to protect antlerless deer, which would reduce the statewide harvest, allowing the deer population to grow.
The DNR would like hunters to refer to their 2014 Minnesota Hunting and Trapping Regulations Handbook for more information.
