St. Charles, Missouri (NBC News) - Rick Santorum surged to big wins tuesday in both minnesota's caucuses and missouri's non-binding primary.
No delegates were directly awarded as a result of Tuesday's results.
But they break Mitt Romney's bid to keep his victory streak alive in the Republican nomination contests.
Santorum won over half the ballots cast in Missouri's non-binding primary trouncing the remainder of the GOP field.
The former Pennsylvania Senator scored an emphatic minnesota win, with a double digit lead as the Caucus tallies continued into the night.
A beaming santorum claimed the results show he's the true conservative alternative to President Obama.
He said Tuesday night's results will be noted by the Romney team.
"Your votes today were not just heard loud and wide across the state of Missouri and Minnesota, but they were heard loud and louder all across this country," said Santorum in Missouri. "And particularly in a place I suspect may be in Massachusetts, they were heard particularly loud tonight."
Santorum travels now to Texas for a rally and campaign meetings.
