Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Minnesota Power, along with the 148th Fighter Wing, celebrated an outstanding employee today.

Diana McFadden received the "Patriot Award" from the 148th Fighter Wing for assisting a Minnesota Power employee while she was deployed.

McFadden is the Manager of the Purchasing Department for Minnesota Power.

Jennifer Peterson is an officer with the 148th who, took a leave from Minnesota Power to serve three months of active duty in Afghanistan in 2012.

While she was deployed McFadden did her best to make sure Peterson was still part of the Minnesota Power team.

She worked with Peterson's schedule and even informed her of a job opening in the company, which she now holds.

Peterson says she wanted to do something to recognize McFadden for the support she received while deployed.

"Well anyone who knows me knows that I'm not real comfortable being the center of attention, but I do feel very honored for being nominated for this award," said McFadden.

"The Patriot Award recognizes outstanding support from an employer for an employee who is a member of the National Guard or reserve," said Peterson.

Besides receiving the "Patriot Award," McFadden was also given a plaque from the Duluth Chamber of Commerce for her efforts and a commemorative coin from the 148th Fighter Wing.
