Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - It's a symbol that reminds everyone that Christmas is just around the corner.

A large pine tree was erected in Lake Superior Plaza in Duluth Thursday.

The 38 foot tall Colorado blue spruce was lifted by crane from the flatbed truck that brought it from Gary-New Duluth.

The tree was donated by Tim Jago and is just over 40 years old.

"The Community Christmas tree is a long time tradition for Minnesota Power. This is the 29th annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony that will take place next Friday," said Amy Rutledge with Minnesota Power.

More than 10,000 LED lights will decorate the tree this year.

Barbara Reyelts will emcee the ceremonial lighting of the tree on Friday, November 22, live on the KBJR 6 & Range 11 News at Five.
