Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Minnesota is stepping up its game to increase tourism throughout the state.

The luncheon today was hosted by Visit Duluth and featured speakers addressing tourism growth in Northeast Minnesota. Duluth has been seeing steady growth in the industry since a low point in 2007 and leaders hope to keep that momentum with the launch of the new campaign.
The effort is being funded by a 67 percent increase in state spending for tourism.
"We received our largest funding increase ever last legislative session. That's allowing us to get some new messages out to people in target markets. People throughout our surrounding states don't know about Minnesota. When they come here they're incredibly pleased. So we don't have a product problem, we have an awareness problem" said Executive Director of Explore Minnesota, John Edman.
The 'Authentic Duluth' branding ad-campaign will include television ads as well as print, digital and social media components.
There is also a new Duluth destination page on TripAdvisor, which should help people hoping to explore the Northland.
Well, this is also where people who live here as well as visitors come into play. The hashtag 'OnlyInMinnesota' is being encouraged on photos and other social media.
