Minnesotans affected by recent severe weather receive more time for taxes

June 23, 2014 Updated Jun 25, 2014 at 10:36 PM CDT

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The recent severe weather and flooding in Minnesota has certainly dampened spirits; and definitely the pocket books of those affected.

That is why Minnesotans affected by the recent severe weather and flooding across the state are being given more time to file and pay their taxes.

The Minnesota Department of Revenue declares that they will forgive penalties, as well as interest, for taxpayers located in areas affected by the storms.

Eligible taxpayers for this relief are people who have Minnesota tax returns or payments due between June 11 and June 23, 2014; federal taxes do not apply.

The Minnesota Department of Revenue Disaster Relief Hotline: 651–556–3016 or toll free (Outside the metro only) 1–800–657–3606.
