Motorcyclist Dies Following Collision with Deer on Hwy 61

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- A 57-year-old motorcyclist is dead following a collision with a deer on Highway 61 Tuesday night.

Michael Johnson, of Duluth, was traveling northbound on Hwy 61 near Larsmont Road just after sunset Tuesday when authorities say he struck a large deer broadside.

Johnson was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, where he died the next morning from injuries sustained in the accident.

Police say Johnson was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
