Superior, Wis. (NNCNOW.com) -- The University of Wisconsin–Superior campus honored its graduating multi–cultural students on Friday.

It was the 17th annual Multicultural Affairs and First Nations Center graduation reception.

Each student was recognized for their hard work and achievements during their college careers.

Cultural presentations and performances were also part of the event.

"We believe at UWS that diversity is an asset so every student of color that comes and chooses to be part of UW–Superior we want to honor them for making UWS a better place for all students," said Chip Beal, Diversity Coordinator at UWS.

The Multicultural Award was also given out to Leslie Gibbs, for his work in diversity through out the community.
