DULUTH, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - Two grants will help keep Duluth Police officers safer on the job.
The US Department of Justice has granted the department almost $17,000 meant to reimburse the purchase of 45 ballistic vests for daily wear.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety will match the grant.
The department works to the replace the vests every five years.
The Duluth City Council formally accepted those grants Monday night.
