Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - For most students senior prom is an enchanted evening to dress up and dance the night away, but for many finding that illusive perfect dress for a reasonable price is a struggle.

The Prom Shopping Spectacular Store is pairing discount dress–seekers with former prom–goers looking to clear out closet space and get a little cash back for their old gowns.

The temporary business is selling nearly 400 dresses on consignment this year, offering the slightly used gowns at a fraction of their usual cost.

Only dresses up to date with current styles are accepted, and many of the unsold dresses are donated to local charities including the Life House Prom and the Boys and Girls club.

The goal of the organizers is to give every young woman bound for prom the dress she truly wants.

"You keep hearing about how expensive the dresses get, how expensive they are and there's just such a need for it. It shouldn't cost you that much money to still look beautiful and be able to go to your prom," said store coordinator Breanna Johnson.

A portion of the funds raised will also go to charities to provide makeup, shoes and accessories to go along with the donated dresses.
