Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - City officials delivered a proposal tonight for the location of a new Duluth Fire Hall in the Woodland neighborhood.

The proposal calls for a new fire hall at the intersection of Woodland and Arrowhead.

In March the city rolled out plans calling for the consolidation of two fire halls in that area.

The initial proposal put the fire hall at the corner of Snivley and Woodland Avenue.

Some of the public's concerns include response times and how a fire hall would change the look of the neighborhood.

"For the last five months I've been meeting with them and going over plans. I've been educating them about the fire service, they have been educating me about their neighborhoods and the character of the neighborhoods and what they want in fire response, so it's worked really well," said Fire Chief, Jon Strongitharm.

"We're not here just to say not in our back yard. We want to be able to look at it for the good of the whole community as well as for our families," said Julie Knuths, who lives in Woodland Hills area.

The next step is to present the proposal at a city of the whole meeting sometime in September.
