Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The newest Duluth waterfront hotel, located on the bay side of Park Point, will soon be open for guests.

The hotel will open just in time for the next summer tourism season.

It is set to open by May, 2014.

The Park Point Marina Inn Hotel is just 50 feet from the water's edge and is within easy walking distance of Canal Park and the Lakewalk.

"It has a beautiful view overlooking the marina and the sailboats," said David Riddle, general manager of the hotel.

The 3 story hotel will feature 68 deluxe guest rooms, an indoor swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, banquet meeting rooms, and fitness center.

"It'll be another option for people down in Canal Park to just come down and relax," said Riddle.

Managers and hotel owners say the view from the hotel is one to treasure.

"Beautiful views, beautiful balconies, every room has a balcony. Just a gorgeous, gorgeous setting," said Terry Anderson, owner of the hotel.

The general manager says that the architects spent a great deal of time working with the Duluth boat club, which previously had a building on the site.

"Some of the architectural interior and exterior was designed from that historic building," said Riddle.

He also says that the suites will offer Jacuzzis or fireplaces.

The hotel is only 1 block from the S-Curve Beach on the bay side of Park Point making swimming and beach walking easily accessible.

The hotel owner says the parking lot isn't in yet, and that they have to close the hotel in before winter.

Once that happens they'll continue with interior work which will be the final step in the construction process.
