Hermantown, MN (NNCNOW.com) -- The Hermantown Police and Fire Departments are in a high pressure competition to see which department can give the most blood.

The competition started three years ago as a way to save and sustain lives through blood donations.

The goal of the event is to have at least 100 people give blood to fill the urgent need of blood donations.

When you donate blood, just tell which department you want to support to help them win the race.

"The fire department is currently ahead, by a little bit. There are a couple of days left so there is plenty of time to go back and fourth," said fire fighter Patrick Albrecht.

To vote for one of the departments visit one of the donation locations below until Saturday.

Skyline Lanes 4809 Miller Trunk Hwy on Thursday July 17th from 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

North Shore Bank of Commerce (Hermantown Branch) Friday July 18th from 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Fitchner Field (Ugstad Rd /Maple Grove Rd) on Saturday July 19th from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
