Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -- A survey says that Northeastern Minnesota motorists buckle up 80.5%, which signifies a slight increase from last year's seat belt rate at 80.3%.

The results were announced in conjunction with a statewide Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement effort that lasted through October 26.

The survey was conducted in May and data was collected from eight counties, including, Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, Pine and St. Louis.

According to the Department of Public Safety, as statewide seat belt use has increased, unbelted deaths have dropped.
