Northland Organizations Collect Supplies for the Homeless
Hermantown, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Several Northland organizations are collecting items for the area's homeless. Members from Leadership Duluth, the Human Development Center and the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce came together Saturday to collect food, bottled water, toiletries and other items outside the Hermantown Wal–Mart. The collection is part of an effort called the Homeless Project Supply Drive. Those involved say the drive is as important as ever, as the average age of a homeless person is just nine-years-old. "It kind of hits home. I have an 11–year–old, 13–year–old, 8 and 6–year–old. So, it's kind of, it hits home," said Eric Peterson of Leadership Duluth. Donations can be dropped off through Monday, January 21st at U.S. Bank locations in Duluth and in the main lobby of Essentia Health St. Mary's. Written for the web by Jennifer Austin.
