Morgan Park, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Supporting the health of a neighborhood, or community, is made just a little easier when the community steps forward to make a difference.

At least, that was the idea behind the Family Fun Fest and Neighborhood Youth Services Fundraiser, in historic Morgan Park Saturday.

The free event brought families out for your typical summer fun activities, including free burgers and water balloon launching.

But the goal behind it, says former Duluth Superior Transportation Association President Joe Schiff, is to raise funds for NYS--a Woodland Hills program.

The DSTA is a group of local trucking and transportation companies in the Twin Ports that network, and do things for the community like this event.

"We'd like to have more of a community presence," said Schiff. "We want people to recognize the DSTA as an organization that's here to promote organizations and community well–being."

"Much of our funding is grant funding and donations," said Jessica Schiff, of NYS, "and so, when we have an opportunity to partner with organizations in the community that contribute financially it certainly helps the quantity and quality of programming that we're able to provide to our kids."
