Northlanders enjoy the winter warm up

Duluth, Minn. (NNCNOW.com) -- The weather brought a nice change of pace for people in the Northland with temperatures climbing to almost 40 above zero today.

Coupled with the six inches of snow, Northlanders are still out cleaning up their driveways before the snow melts.

Anglers took to the ice to enjoy a calm, sunny day ice fishing on Lake Superior.

Others visiting the area, enjoyed another past time popular in the Northland, cross country skiing.

Denny Braun, who is in the Northland visiting from San Diago California, said the trails were almost too soft and wished the temperatures were a bit lower.

Braun says he always tries to come back to his home state of Minnesota just after Valentine's day to catch the perfect weather.

"I know that it gets very cold in January and into February so when I come back I usually come back just after Valentine's Day because at least you get into the warmer weather; the warmer winter weather," said Braun.
