Obama Writes back to Ely Resident, Honors Request

Ely, MN (NNCNOW.com) -- An Ely resident wrote a letter to President Obama and was surprised to have received a handwritted letter in return.

Gary Snyder, wrote the President asking for a personal contribution to a local time capsule that would be included in a brick wall of the Fine Arts Building at Vermillion Community College.

Snyder was surprised to receive a handwritten two-page note from the president on White House stationery in September.

The story was featured on Monday's Today Show on NBC.

The Northland's NewsCenter has a reporter in the area reporting the story on Monday, as well.
