Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -- October has been the deadliest month for unbelted traffic deaths so far in 2012.
According to preliminary reports of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety, 87 motorists that were killed in crashes were not buckled up in 2012.
15 of those motorists were in October.
All of the 15 unbelted deaths were outside the Twin Cities metro area.
The statewide Click it or Ticket seat belt enforcement campaign, which ran from October 12 - 26, during which 5,569 motorists were cited for not wearing seat belts.
The results were reported by 322 participating agencies.
DPS recently announced the statewide seat belt use rate is a record-high of 93.6%.
